Win An All-Expenses Paid Date With Marnie Stern On The Day of Her Album Release: March 19
The Chronicles of Marnia out March 19 on Kill Rock Stars
…Are you tired of seeing Marnie Stern have relationships with an endless array of losers and bores? Don’t you think a guitarist as great as Marnie should have someone special to watch Law and Order SVU with? Do you enjoy petting dogs while eating chicken wings? Honestly, don’t you think a nice, positively cute, 30-something Jewish girl should meet the man of her dreams? We sure do!
If you live in the New York City area (no long-distance dudes, please) and are not a total creep/stalker (we will KNOW if you are), please send an email with your answers to the application questions below, your favorite Marnie song, and a recent photo of yourself. Marnie’s record label will pay for this date, but you’re paying for the next one!
Age, religion, and race are not a factor, but a sense of humor is critical. Marnie’s ideal man is a homebody who doesn’t mind that his girlfriend is out of town on tour a lot, and is not a drug addict, a slacker, or a vegan.
One more thing: Marnie doesn’t get to pick the winner, Marnie’s record label and publicist do, so go ahead and charm the metaphorical pants off us. We just want the best for her…and maybe you are it!!
You can find more info at www.killrockstars.com
Please email all applications to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Are you gainfully employed? Elaborate.
When/how long was your last relationship?
What are your hobbies/interests?
What qualities do you most enjoy in a woman?
List any anti-depressants you currently take:
What do you know about Marnie and why do you want to date her?
What would your most recent ex-girlfriend say about you? Can we get her email?
Where would you take Marnie on a first date and why?

Our friends at Brooklyn Brewery are doing a sick show…in SWEDEN! And you can go for free!! All you gotta do is write a song about the G train and send it to FREEBIE@BROOKLYNBREWERY by July 24th. If you send it to CONTACT@NEWTOWNRADIO.COM also, we promise to air it.
We came, we broadcast, we recorded… Declare SXSW 2012 a success for Newtown!
After a non-eventful flight through Minneapolis, we arrived on Wednesday at our east side pad, dropped off our stuff and headed out to the Longbranch Inn. Impose Magazine had a great hip-hop lineup on the first night of its 10 year anniversary showcase: Danny Brown, Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire, Main Attrakionz, and G-Side. These guys did not disappoint. Danny Brown in particular was on point…this guy is rising fast, definitely check out his set.
Thursday was jam packed, with an afternoon showcase hosted by Death & Taxes and Solid Gold and then an evening show from Sexbeat. We posted up at Cheer Up Charlies in the afternoon and stayed til they shut the place down. Amazing sound on these recordings. Jacuzzi Boys, Ganglians, Young Prisms, Dirty Beaches and Total Slacker were predictably awesome. Love Inks and Tashaki Miyaki were pleasant surprises…we’ll definitely be playing more from both of them.
Friday afternoon we spent the day at the Thrasher showcase at the Scoot Inn. No broadcast, but damn, all we can say is go see Trash Talk… That evening, we were back at Longbranch for night three of the Imposition with Crocodiles, Bleached, Young Prisms (who subbed in for Colleen Green…sad to miss her but can’t get too much of YP), Dirty Beaches (bad sound on this set, unfortunately) and Bleeding Rainbow.
On Saturday, we took a day off — you try carrying around an entire radio station all day! — and hit up the Fader party and the Captured Tracks show. St. Patrick’s day + SXSW is an interesting combination. Not sure Austin needed a second wave of even drunker, younger people, but what the hell.
Our trip concluded with the most amazing BBQ we’ve had in a long time (with appologies to BK’s Fette Sau)…Sam’s BBQ, which proclaims out front “You don’t need no teeth to eat my beef!” is the real deal.
Until next year, Austin…we love ya!

Thursday afternoon, we’ll pick up the Death & Taxes + Solid Gold show at Cheer Up Charlies starting @ 4:00 bringing you Saint Motel, The Young Evils, the Love Language, Young Prisms, Guards, Tashaki Miyaki, Caveman and TBA super-secret special guest. RSVP @ http://dteastend.eventbrite.com/
Then Thursday evening, we’ll stay posted up at Cheer Up Charlies for the Sexbeat show w/ Throne, OBN IIIs, Total Slacker, Love Inks, Ganglians, and Jacuzzi Boys. RSVP @ http://sexbeatlondon.com/
After recuperating (i.e. waking up at 2, drinking some beers with handfuls of aspirin) we’ll be back with Impose @ Longbranch starting at 10 pm to broadcast Bleeding Rainbow, Colleen Green, Bleached, Dirty Beaches (p II) and Crocodiles.
Saturday is a wild card. We can’t guarantee we’ll still be alive and have fully functioning gear, but if so, we’ll update on where we’ll be and what you can tune in to hear.
Pass the Lonestar, Titos and tacos…here we come!!!
